Helen moved from her home town of Liverpool to London to study at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary dance when she was 16. On graduation, Helen started work in a contemporary dance company but sustained an injury that persuaded her to explore her passion for fitness training.
What got you interested in fitness in the first place?
I have always been into sports and fitness since I was a very little girl. I then went on to dance professionally from the age of 15 so I guess my job and my passion have always involved movement and training my body!! I love so many different aspects of fitness, but mainly how it makes me feel. There is absolutely no better feeling than when you have just smashed a workout! Mentally and physically it’s so rewarding.
Who inspires you?
I am so inspired by my clients. As their trainer, I am so invested in their goal and their happiness, so it’s such a rewarding and special experience seeing them go from strength to strength, and gain true confidence in their abilities.
Why did you choose to teach at PBB?
I had seen mentions of PBB all over my social media, and I loved the style of everything – from the boutique studio feel, to the gorgeous press pictures of the barre classes. As soon as I met Paola I knew I wanted to work for her – she is one amazing, inspiring woman!
Where did you study fitness and health?
I started my studies in dance at Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance, and graduated with a 1st Class Hons. I then continued my training with Premier International and gained my Level 3 Personal Training qualification. I then trained further with Paola’s Body Barre, and Stott Pilates.
How do you stay motivated?
I am generally a motivated person! I have big dreams and big goals so I know I need to work hard to achieve them! Exercise wise- my motivation is my post workout feeling. Even if I am exhausted after teaching all day, it may not be my best workout ever, but exercise and movement is what gives me energy and makes me a positive person – I’d be a demon without it!
